The Football Association has rejected Queens Park Rangers’ appeal against the red card of Shaun Derry.
The FA have rejected QPR’s decision to contest the red card and Derry will now miss Wednesday’s match against Swansea at Loftus Road.
A statement on the FA’s official website reads: “Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after his claim of wrongful dismissal was rejected by a Regulatory Commission today [Tuesday 10 April].
“Derry was dismissed for denying a goalscoring opportunity in the Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday 8 April 2012.”
The 34-year-old was judged to have tripped Ashley Young to give away a penalty in QPR’s defeat at United to earn his red card.
Replays suggested the decision was harsh and that Young had been offside in the build-up to the incident.
