THE JORDANIAN ENVIRONMENT WATCH PROGRM (JEW)

JEW was established in the UJRC in 1999 became possible after enormous efforts UJRC made in the earlier years. UJRC published in 1995 the first general survey of the organizations operating in the field of environment and the conservation of nature.  A report on this was issued as part of the proposal on civil society organizations.
The significance of the Jordanian Environmental Watch program is reflected in the need for an independent and effective instrument to control and follow up the on the conditions of the Jordanian environment and the degree to which it is influenced by the activities of the various government policies. It will also seek to activate the role of municipalities in protecting the environment, preserving the cultural heritage, enhancing the contribution of NGOs in the areas of education and awareness and implementing or improving environmental protection projects.
