UJRC
Established in 1993, al-Urdun Al-Jadid Research Center seeks
tp address major political, social and economic issues at
the local and regional levels. The center aims to achieve
intigrated sustainable development in Jordan and the Arab
world through conducting research, activating dialogue, organizing
siminars and workishops and exchanging expertise with other
organizations.
UJRC’s
main goals can be summarized as follows:

to promote sustainable democracy through sponsoring national
dialogue, encouraging political participation, strengthening
democratic legislation and expanding the role of civil society.
> to
serve as a national think tank that provides analysis of major
economic, political and social issues and presents alternative
policies to the government and to private sector institutes.
> to
publish research as a tool for public education and to facilitate
general access to information.
> to
provide a conducive atmosphere for dialogue and consensus
building in order to form a wider base for policy reforms.
> to
build networks between research centers, institutions and
civil society organizations at the local, regional and international
levels for cooperation and exchange of expertise.
> to
build resources, such as archives and libraries, in order
to provide free public access to information and enhance public
awareness of democracy and development issues.
> to
improve public awareness of political and economic realities
through the provision of training opportunities in areas such
as electoral participation, human rights and freedom of expression
with the ultimate goal of reinforcing the consolidation of
democracy in Jordan.
